ABB TK851
Overview
The TK851 is an RCU‑Link cable designed for redundant processor units (such as PM866, PM864, PM891, etc.) in the ABB 800xA series control system. It is responsible for transmitting logs, status information, and control commands between the primary CPU and the backup CPU.
Technical Specifications
- Connection Method: Equipped with a 68-pin connector. The connector marked “UPPER” is connected to the primary CPU, and the other end is connected to the backup CPU.
- Length: The standard length is 0.7 m (custom lengths are available to meet on-site requirements).
- Compatibility: Suitable for redundant processor units (including PM858, PM861, PM862, PM864, PM865, PM866, PM867, PM891, etc.) of ABB 800xA Version 6.0.2 and above.
- Electrical Characteristics: Complies with ISA‑Secure certification and holds full EMC certification. It supports IP20 protection and requires no additional enclosures.

Installation and Maintenance Guidelines
- Installation: When assembling redundant processor units, insert the TK851 cable into the RCU‑Link interfaces of the two CPUs respectively. If BC810/BC820 modules are used, the bus side must first complete the correct connection of CEX‑Bus before connecting the TK851.
- Inspection: Ensure that the connector latches are intact and the pins are not bent; verify that the markings on both ends of the cable correspond to the primary/backup CPUs.
- Maintenance: Regularly inspect the cable for wear and damage. For replacement, simply unplug the old cable and insert a new one of the same specification—no software reconfiguration is required.
